Monumental French Art Nouveau Iron Copper Jardiniere Planter


Late 19th century monumental French jardinière or planter constructed from iron, copper, zinc and bronze. Early Art Nouveau piece featuring a large frame that cradles a hanging basket. The frame is decorated with large scroll feet and feather motifs ending with tulip shaped finials. The basket measures 39 inches wide by 20 inches deep with a 16 inch deep interior. Enclosed with perforated copper panels having a geometric pattern of small stars. The metal surfaces have a heavily patinated finish with verdigrises’ that give the piece a lovely green palate of different shades and textures. From an estate in Malibu, CA.
