Minton-Spidell Louis XV Style Ebonized Secretary Bookcase


Dramatic secretaire bookcase or bibliotheque hand-crafted by Minton-Spindell Los Angeles, CA. The two-part case features an ebonized lacquer finish with parcel gilt accents. The lacquer has a desirable aged patina with craquelure. The secretaire is made in the grand French Louis XV taste with a generous drop front writing table measuring 49 inches wide and 26 inches deep when open. The desk is fitted with four small drawers and pigeon holes for storage. The case is fronted by two large storage drawers under the desk with patinated brass pulls. The desk is surmounted a library bookcase with two doors opening to a three-shelf storage area. The doors have windows fitted with wire mesh screening. The case is supported by gracefully curved cabriole legs. From the estate of Stuart Moldaw, Atherton, CA.
