Midcentury Organic Modern McGuire Rattan Armchair

Iconic early McGuire mid-century modern bamboo rattan armchair made in the California organic modern coastal style. The chair features a bent rattan frame with a horseshoe or barrel back form. The exposed joints are reinforced with thick leather rawhide laces that were used on early McGuire models. The generous seat has a geometric open fretwork design on the sides and back. The seat is topped with a fitted loose seat cushion in a MCM patterned upholstery that shows well and is still presentable. The rattan has a lovely aged patina. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a classic profile from an estate in San Francisco, CA. The arms measure 23 inches high.
