Mah Jong Kenzo Missoni Sectional Sofa by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois
$34,000.00
Iconic large Roche Bobois Mah Jong modular 22 piece sectional sofa designed in the mid 20th century by Hans Hopfer (German b. 1931). This special set measures 19 feet wide and features 4 rare corner pieces which are the most valuable and coveted allowing for greater design possibilities. (Most Mah Jong sectionals only have 1 to 2 corner pieces) The dramatic sofa features Kenzo Takada (Japanese 1939-2020) and Missoni Home fabrics circa 2000-2010. Designed in France and hand-made in Italy the set consists of 22 elements or pieces offering infinite design possibilities in a chic mosaic of color, tapestry, texture, and design. The sofa set includes 10 square seat cushions, (measuring 39 x 39 inches) 6 back support cushions, (one with adjustable top) 4 corner pillow cushions, and 2 matching throw pillows. Each authentic cushion is entirely constructed and sewn by hand in a dedicated workshop having a makers signature on the inside zipper. The beautiful patterns on the Takada fabrics were inspired by Japanese kimonos used in Noh theater. The sofa is in very good condition given age and use with vibrant colors and soft fabric material having a lightly faded patina as seen in photos. Measurements taken as seen in photo #3.
