Japanese Six Panel Spring Blossoms on Gold Leaf Screen


19th century Japanese Meiji six-panel screen featuring colorful red and white spring flowering blossoms on a gold leaf ground. This large screen has a beautiful antique patina with foxing and fading that add to its vintage look. Set in an ebonized black frame with thick etched brass hardware. Appears to have been relined long ago. The painted flowers create a dramatic presentation with the bold colors standing out over the rich gold leaf background.
