Large early 20th century Japanese late Meiji period six-panel folding byobu screen depicting episodes from the tale of Genji. The scenes include butterfly dancers and third princess with her cat. Beautifully crafted with gold leaf squares and vibrant green and blue natural pigments. The screen has a lovely aged patina set in a black lacquered frame. From an estate in San Francisco, CA. The painting is signed "Kano" with one seal.
