Large 19th century late Meiji period Japanese six-panel painted screen. Depicting a scholar and travelers encountering a Chinese sage riding a donkey. Inscribed with a cursive script poem in the middle. Beautifully faded and aged patina. Ink and color pigments on paper made in the Nihonga school style. Signed by artist Shunshin with a seal on bottom right side. Set in a lacquered wood frame with a silk border. From an estate in Los Angeles, CA.
