Japanese Four-Panel Showa Screen Quail Floral Landscape


Dramatic Japanese Showa period four-panel byobu screen depicting two quail. Set amid a floral landscape of peonies, iris, and grass, the screen has a dark, patinated silver background on the finish appearing almost black. Signed by artist with a seal on the left side. Made in the Nihonga school style. Ink and color pigments on paper. Set in a natural wood frame with a lovely cerused finish, and silk brocade border.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with age appropriate wear and fading. One very small loss on front and wear on back as seen in photos.
