Japanese Four-Panel Screen Herons and Reeds


Spectacular Japanese four-panel screen depicting a group of white Japanese herons in a pond with reeds. Ink and colored pigments painted on an unusual silver silk ground. Signed on right by artist Tokin with a seal and set in a very heavy lacquered wood frame. The painting is bordered by silk brocade trim. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with age appropriate wear. Light stains and old repairs visible on close inspection.
