Japanese Four-Panel Edo Screen Battle of Yashima


Tales of the Heikei Japanese four-panel Edo period screen. Depicting the battle of Yashima with Nasu No Yoichi shooting his arrow. Large screen originally six panels cut down to four. Beautifully colored mineral pigments, ink with gold and silver flecks on paper. 19th century late Edo period unsigned with older restoration, retouch, and rework. From an estate in Bel Air, CA.

Dimensions: 99"w x .75"d x 66"h

Circa: Mid-19th Century, Japan

Materials: Wood, Paper, Brass, Silk

Condition: Fair, minor wear consistent with age and use. Signs of wear with minor joint separation and losses as seen in photos. Age appropriate wear and fading. Shows well but would benefit from light restoration.
