Japanese Edo Two-Panel Screen Small Boats on Riverbank


Rare and unusual Japanese late Edo period two-panel screen depicting small boats on a riverbank hidden in a mist shrouded landscape. Made with ink and natural color pigments on gold leaf squares with faded dark silver leaf flecks decorating the scene. The screen is set in a wood frame with a green silk brocade border decorated with gilt.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Age appropriate wear and fading as seen in photos. Minor wear at joint. Old repairs and touch-ups.
