Serene Japanese late Edo period four-panel screen depicting an autumn/winter at the west lake in Hangzhou. Tall, steep mountains border the scene creating an immense sense of space. Ink and color pigments painted on paper in the unkoku school style with strong Chinese influence. The painting is set in an ebonized wood frame with a silk brocade border. Beautifully intricate details and composition. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA. The frame has silk backing and gilt decorated seams.
