Japanese 4 Panel Screen Pheasants, Cherry and Prunus on Gold Leaf
Colorful Japanese 4 panel folding screen on gold leaf decorated with pheasants, cherry, and prunus. Made in Kyoto, Japan by famous artist Ransetsu and originally sold by Gumps. The screen was made in the traditional Byobu method using washi with gold leaf applied by hand then painted. Then a layer of fine brocade silk was applied and the screen was set into a black lacquer frame with brass embellishments.
