Important Pair of Early McGuire Bamboo Rattan Armchairs

This product is sold out

Rare and important pair of bamboo rattan midcentury armchairs that were made after the early prototypes by John and Elinor McGuire. The first armchairs produced had an organic finish with a more pronounced natural bamboo node and were reinforced with a wicker style strapping. These chairs were only available for a short period, then the smoother rattan style with the iconic leather strapping became the norm. These beauties are excellent examples with very little signs of use. Both chairs have McGuire early brass name plates. McGuire began producing bamboo rattan furniture in San Francisco, CA in 1948.
