French Louis XVI Swedish Gustavian Style Painted Settee


Stunning French painted settee or loveseat made in the Louis XVI Gustavian taste. Features a beautifully carved frame with neoclassical acanthus motifs. Each side has Directoire style column arm supports with a gilt rosette on the top. The flat square back has finials on each corner and graceful curved arms. The aged lacquer finish is accented by parcel gilt highlights. Supported by six small fluted and tapered legs. Upholstered in a French burlap the settee has two deep, loose seat cushions and padded arms. Made in the manner of Maison Jansen, circa 1940. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.
