French Directoire Style Giltwood Window Bench Seat


Magnificent French giltwood window bench seat featuring copper lined jardinieres or planters on each end. Made in the directoire taste with subtle Louis XVI and French Empire neoclassical styling cues. Each end has a two tier design with a demi lune form. The bottom tier or shelf is decorated with a geometric sunburst design and is surmounted by the jardinieres. The frame if finished in a two tone gold leaf satin and matte. Supported by eight saber legs decorated with carved rosettes on top. The bench has a loose cushion seat with four small satin pillows. Provenance: Tom Buckley Los Angeles, CA.
