English Aesthetic Movement Tortoise Shell Bamboo Pine Chest

Gorgeous late 19th century English aesthetic movement pine commode or chest of drawers. The chest features a wood frame decorated with tortoise shell style bamboo trim. The top of the chest is lacquered and decorated with Asian motifs and birds in a chinoiserie revival taste. The generous drawers glide smoothly and have a patinated brass pull in the center. The drawer fronts and sides of the case have a textured wallpaper in a dramatic black finish with a subtle snake/lizard skin texture. The chest has a desirable aged, distressed patina on the finishes adding character and charm to the piece. From an estate in the Napa Valley, CA.
