Chinese Qing Style Lacquered Wedding Cabinet Chest


Extraordinary Chinese lacquered wedding cabinet or prosperity chest made in the early Qing dynasty style. Features a polychrome decorated front depicting dozens of playing young boys as a symbol of prosperity and luck for the new family. Set among beautiful pagodas and green trees with a parcel gilt decoration on the large case. The two doors open to reveal ample storage areas on top and bottom with two drawers in the middle. The bottom storage is accessed through two large swinging doors. Constructed with mortise and tenon joinery. Finished with brass hardware and door pulls. Unique and whimsical from an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.
