Chinese Qing Dynasty Bamboo Altar Table Console


Late 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty altar table or console. Constructed from tortoiseshell finish bamboo having a double pedestal topped with a lacquered elm top. The frame is intricately decorated with an open fretwork lattice design. The frieze is decorated with Chinese symbols and the black lacquered top has scrolled ends. Narrow design makes it a versatile piece as a console or sofa table. From an estate in Hollywood, CA.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Age appropriate wear and fading. Beautifully crafted with an aged patina on the bamboo finish as seen in photos. One small piece of bamboo lattice missing from side.
