Chinese Export Six Panel Gilt Coromandel Screen Flora Fauna


Radiant Chinese export six-panel coromandel screen. Featuring lacquered panels over a dramatic gilt gold leaf square ground. Beautifully hand-painted with intricate details depicting a flora and fauna landscape scene at a river's edge. Delicate vibrant colored exotic birds and colorful flowers decorate the panels. Signed on the left side with a seal. Makers mark from Shanghai, China on the bottom of one panel. The scene is bordered by a dragon motif repeating pattern around the edge. The reverse side of the screen depicts a stark bamboo forest in gilt windows. The panels are supported by straight square legs with brass-clad feet.
