Chinese Export Four Panel Lacquered Gilt Coromandel Screen


Qing style Chinese export four panel lacquered folding coromandel screen featuring a dramatic gilt background. The front of the screen is decorated with a pagoda court scene with figures engaged in leisurely activities. The scene is bordered with a dragon motif and each panel has a fan on the top and vases on the bottom depicted with scholarly objects. The panels have a beautiful aged craquelure patina on the finish. Each panel is supported by square legs with brass-clad feet. The reverse side of the screen features Chinese script caligraphy.
