Arne Nybak 1989 Large Untitled Oil Canvas Painting

$15,000.00

Fascinating large oil on canvas untitled painting by Arne Nybak (American 1910-1999). The painting features a surreal scene of draped curtains with neoclassical motifs of Greek statuary and a white peacock perched in a tree. In the foreground are colorful magnolia, climbing roses, tulips, and lilies in blue and white chinoiserie style urns. Nybak was a major influence of the Central California art world where he had a gallery in Cambria before moving to San Luis Obispo. The canvas measures 60 inches by 78.5 inches high with amazing textural details and colors while being grounded in an array of red. Signed bottom right and dated. Also, signed, dated, and marked San Luis Obispo on verso. Beautiful giltwood frame with a small linen border. From an estate in Napa Valley, CA.
