Andrew Jackson Signed Leather Bible, circa 1810


Diminutive 1810 leather bible autographed by Andrew Jackson with an owner's inscription on front paper "Presented to Anna Armstrong by her Father 1812". Features a signature by Andrew Jackson on the inside cover. Printed by William W. Woodard (1769-1837) in Philadelphia, PA 1810. This copy belonged to Andrew Jackson and was later given to Anna Armstrong by her father in November of 1812. The back of the bible contains the genealogy of the Armstrong family. The bible is bound in leather with a custom leather cover and box made later. Provenance: Mills College Library Albert M. Bender collection bearing a Mills College stamp and bookmark.

Condition: Distressed, wear consistent with age and use. Front cover is loose but attached and all pages attached to spine with signs of wear and use.
