19th Century English Regency Painted and Parcel-Gilt Bench Settee
Remarkable 19th century English Regency painted and parcel-gilt bench or settee. Decorated in the neoclassical taste with a serpentine crest featuring a lions head carved motif and a Greek key detail over an ebonized frame. Beautifully distressed lacquer patina with craquelure finish and gilt remnants. Supported by delicate legs ending with casters. Provenance: Purchased from Foster-Gwin Antiques in San Francisco, CA in 1989 with sales receipt.
