19th Century English Lattice Step Ladder by Gainsford and Co.


Rare 19th century English "Hatherley" lattice step ladder by "Gainsford and Company" London, England. Constructed from ash with four steps and finished with oil and wax polish. Bears a metal maker's plaque on both sides and folds flat. Beautifully worn and faded patina, but still functioning. Makes an impressive display stand. The Hatherley stepladder was the forerunner of the modern stepladder and was used by chambermaids and librarians.
