19th Century English Ebonized Barley Twist Library Table Desk


Fantastic mid-19th century English library table or desk featuring barley twist legs and stretchers. Made in the gothic revival period of mid-19th century. Crafted from oak having a dark ebonized finish on the wood. The case has a leather top and a gadrooned edge or border. The frieze has two hidden drawers with acanthus scrolls. The corners of the desk are decorated with Elizabethan style gothic faces or grotesques. The barley twist legs have block feet with rosettes and are conjoined by a stretcher having a center vase finial. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with an aged patina on the wood finish.
