19th Century Country French Pine Barley Twist Bibliotheque Bookcase


Rustic 19th century country French pine bibliotheque library cabinet or bookcase. The two-piece case features large storage areas flanked on both sides with Louis XIII style barley twist columns. Constructed in the Napoleon III period with a distressed, aged lacquer patina on the wood finish. The upper case has three glass doors opening to a five shelf storage area. The case has a corniced top with conforming corners supporting the barley twist columns. The lower buffet portion has three doors opening to a shelved storage area. The doors have lock hardware and a key. The entire piece rests on large bun feet. This bibliotheque buffet deux corps is very versatile with a beautifully aged patina on the finish that could also serve as a kitchen cabinet or display piece.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with an aged, distressed patina on the painted finish as seen in photos. The middle pane of glass has a thin crack. Age appropriate wear and losses on trim.
