18th Century French Regence Walnut Commode or Chest

Handsome 18th century French Regence period commode or chest of drawers. Crafted from walnut in the transitional style between the heavy Louis XIV and the more Rococo influenced style of Louis XV. The case has a subtle serpentine form with peg joinery on the top. Fronted by four storage drawers and one small hidden drawer between the top two. Each drawer fitted with Rococo style brass pulls and escutcheons. The drawer fronts are decorated with cartouches. The commode has rounded corners and is supported by bracket feet.
