Japanese Meiji Six Panel Screen Brushwood Gate with Chrysanthemums
$8,800.00
Gorgeous Japanese early 20th century Meiji period six-panel byobu screen featuring a brushwood gate and fence with flowering chrysanthemums. The large screen is crafted with ink and vibrant natural color pigments on mulberry paper. The screen is embellished with oxidized silver leaf clouds and metallic moriage style (raised pigment) fence in a dramatic silver tone. The colorful flower petals are also crafted in a moriage style. The scene is decorated with silver and gilt specks. Very unique screen with features that can only be truly appreciated in person. The pictures do not capture all the metallic and color nuances of the screen. Set in a black lacquered frame with a silk brocade border. Impressive screen from an estate in San Francisco, CA.
