Country French Bleached Oak Bookcase Bibliotheque Cabinet 8 Ft
$18,000.00
A monumental 19th century French Country-provincial style two-piece oak bibliotheque bookcase featuring a beautifully weathered bleached finish. The grand bookcase measures over 8 feet wide. The upper section is fitted with six tall astral-glazed glass doors each having five windows. The glazed doors open to plank storage shelves and is crowned by a simple projecting cornice. The lower case features eight paneled cupboard doors opening to storage and is raised by small turned bun feet. A broad thick molded ledge separates the upper and lower sections, adding depth to the piece. The cabinet is constructed from solid oak with a latter bleached patinated finish. The soft oak has a desirable weathered, and distressed pale wheat-toned finish exposing the natural oak woodgrains, knots, and variations, adding to the authentic character of the piece as seen in photos. The cabinet retains its original patinated aged brass hardware, including elongated pulls, lock plates, and door latches with some newer added hardware to the doors. The substantial piece blends French Provincial, Country, Rustic, and Farmhouse styles, and is functional as a bookcase, pantry, cabinet, cupboard, bibliotheque, or display cabinet. The base measures 26" tall. The case is sturdy with solid joinery and construction.
