19th Century Georgian Mahogany Secretaire Chest of Drawers

Grand early 19th century English Georgian butler's desk or chest of drawers with secretaire. Crafted from radiant mahogany with delicate thread inlay and veneer. The commode has a large hinged panel with push button mechanisms to drop the front panel and reveal a leather covered writing table and storage area. The desk is fitted with 8 storage drawers and 4 pigeon holes having decorative moorish shaped tops. The center of storage area has a small locking door. When open the desk extends out to a 16 inch by 35 inch writing surface 30 inches high. Below the desk are three large storage drawers with patinated brass pulls. The secretary has a desirable aged patina with minor losses to the finish that odd to its character.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery. Age appropriate wear and fading with several minor veneer losses as seen in photos. 3 bottom drawers slide smoothly and easily. No key available with one locked small storage door inside.
