Stunning 20th century Chinese export six-panel coromandel screen featuring a walled pavilion with pagoda structures and figures engaged in leisurely activities. The screen has a dramatic background of gilt that has been later added to the original painting. The lacquered panels are incised and painted with natural color pigments and each panel features scholars objects on the bottom. The screen is supported by square legs ending with patinated brass capped feet. The reverse side is decorated with a stark landscape of flora and fauna in vibrant colors. The screen has an aged patina on the lacquered finish.

Condition: Good, wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and construction as seen in photos. Very good well-preserved condition with minor chips, scuffs, and light scratches which are difficult to see. Later added gilt background.
