Chinese Export Lacquered Silver Leaf Four Panel Coromandel Screen

Fascinating 20th century Chinese export four-panel coromandel screen featuring a rare dramatic silver-leaf ground. The lacquered panels are incised and painted with vibrant colored pigments depicting a busy water landscape with flora and fauna. The silver leafed background has faded into a spectacular light gold with an aged patina. The two-sided screen has a stark bamboo rock landscape on the reverse side. Supported by square legs ending with patinated brass clad feet. The screen showcases lovely shades of blue, pink, and white. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
