Pair of Louis XV Toile Five-Leg Bergeres

Charming and rare pair of five-legged French bergeres styled after the Louis XV taste during the Napoleon III period. Featuring a toile de jouy upholstery depicting French country life. The frames showcase a unique whimsical craftsmanship with small winged backs and serpentine crests. The seats have a serpentine apron and are supported by five small cabriole legs with carved floral motifs. The chairs appear to have been restored probably in the late 70's or early 80's when they were reupholstered and given a distressed look to the antique carved frames. The seat cushion has been reupholstered in a complimentary linen recently. Each chair has a small stain on the back as seen in photos.
