Japanese Showa Period Two-Panel Screen Cranes and Pine

$2,000.00

Stunning Japanese late Meiji period two panel screen depicting red-crowned cranes in an ancient pine tree over crashing waves. Colorful green pigments with later gold leaf specks accenting the entire scene. Signed and sealed on bottom right and set in an ebonized wood frame with a later silk brocade trim. Period correct etched brass accents on the frame border. Restored with repairs visible on close inspection but do not detract from this beautiful screen. Red crowned cranes or Japanese cranes are among the rarest cranes in the world. They are symbols of luck, longevity, and fidelity.
