Early 19th century Japanese Edo/Tokugawa period four panel folding byobu table screen featuring peony, prunus, and magnolia. Painted with ink and natural color pigments on silk with an aged, distressed patina on the faded finish. Set in a later black lacquered wood frame with solid joinery. The weathered painting has a textured patina from the aged silk wear giving the image a wabi-sabi aesthetic full of charm and character. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
