Chinese Export Six Panel Coromandel Screen Twelve Beauties


Exceptional mid-century Chinese export coromandel screen featuring a pavilion landscape with twelve beauties engaged in leisurely activities. Each panel is ebonized in thick coats of black lacquer and beautifully incised with colored pigments. The garden scene is decorated with plants, trees, and archaic stone sculptures. Bordered by a double Phoenix around the frame. Each panel is supported by straight legs with brass clad feet. The reverse side of each panel has a parcel gilt decoration of Stark trees and vines. The panels have joinery hardware in brass and are not connected. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
