Set of Nine Harvey Probber D43 Rattan Wicker Cantilever Chairs

$9,800.00

A chic set of nine mid-century modern cantilevered "D43" bucket dining chairs designed by Harvey Probber.  The frames are crafted out of woven rattan wicker over a chrome-plated steel frame. Each chair features a tightly woven rattan tub or bucket form shell framed by a chrome-plated tubular steel cantilevered frame. The rattan wicker combines seat, back, and arms into a single continuous form, woven in a combination of a dense weave across the seat and back panels and a coiled rattan binding across the edges. The rattan has faded into a beautifully aged golden honey and caramel tone with old repairs and small losses as expected given age and use. The seats rest atop a bent steel tube frame, finished in a gleaming chrome plate. The frames consist of two connected rear uprights supporting the chair in a cantilevered orientation combining into a single tube base. The frames sit atop small plastic blocks to help support the chairs. The chair frames are sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a desirable aged patina on the rattan wicker finish. Crafted in a blend of Mid-Century and Organic Modern styles, the versatile set of nine is well-suited for a variety of spaces. Rare to find in a large matching set. Sold as a set of nine. From an estate in Malibu, CA.
