Imposing and iconic 20th century stainless steel and bronze mounted library writing table or desk made in the manner and style of John Vesey (American 1924-1992). The desk is constructed from an oak frame embellished with stainless steel veneered panels and bronze trim. The case is fronted by three storage drawers, one lockings center and two side drawers with brass bail pulls. The desk is topped with black leather having a decorative greek key border. The edge of desk has thick bronze trim on all sides. The case is supported by elegant tapered legs with bronze mounts ending with brass sabots. The steel and bronze have a desirable lightly aged patina on the finish. The desk is designed in the grand neoclassical Louis XVI taste with a dramatic profile and large scale. The desk is 32.5 inches high with ample legroom measuring nearly 26 inches from the floor to the apron to accommodate even very tall persons.
