Grand English George III style secretaire bookcase embellished with parcel gilt chinoiserie reserves. The 2 part case is beautifully decorated with idyllic Asian scenes having figures amid flora and fauna. The top case has a double segmental pediment surmounted by three gilt finials. The front of the case has two large doors that open to a storage area with eight drawers, two doors, and numerous pigeon holes. The bottom case is fronted by a slant drop-front door that opens to form a 20 by 40 inch writing surface. The desk is fitted with four drawers one locking door, and pigeon hole storage. Below the desk are three large slide-out drawers. The case is supported by bracket feet. The piece is sturdy and robust with thick 1" inch doors.
