Pair of French Louis XVI Style Beechwood Fauteuil Armchairs

Handsome pair of French fauteuil en cabriolet or armchairs made in the grand neoclassical Louis XVI taste. The chairs feature a carved beech molded frame with a flat, slanted back. The crest has a gracefully curved hump and square corners. The generous seat has a fitted loose seat down filled cushion and wide padded arms measuring 26 inches high. The apron is decorated with neoclassical carved rosettes and the seat is supported by elegant tapered, fluted legs ending with toupie feet. Newly reupholstered with a linen style fabric in a light shade of green. Classic European profile with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The wood has a lovely aged patina on the warm finish.
